Superb Pair of Gilt Gesso Bijouterie Tables C.1870

We are very pleased pleased to offer this extremely rare pair of Bijouterie Table cabinets. They are gilded Gesso on wood and date to the late Victorian period. They are fabulous quality the Gesso work is highly decorative and detailed. The legs are very elegant and tapering, they are the same on all four sides so can be free standing in a room. The tops open up to reveal the bijouterie area for displaying smaller items. Both locks fully work and both keys are present hanging on their original tassels a really nice feature. As is usual with antique gilded gesso work it has small chips and losses all over but this is the character of the piece. They are lined with a beige velvet material. They are both sturdy and sound. These highly decorative tables are of the best quality and would have been retailed by an important firm, now very hard to find in a single example but to have a pair is very very rare indeed.
