Burr Walnut Bureau Desk c.1920

This is a delightful bureau or desk, made from walnut and having the highest Burr Walnut adorning this piece I have seen for a long time. The front is serpentine in shape, a very rare feature. The lockable (key present) flap drops down and 2 lopers automatically come out to support it, inside there is a writing surface, 3 drawers and pigeon holes. The 3 drawers under run smoothly and fitted with original brass handles. She sits on Queen Anne legs ending in Chippendale ball and claw feet. This is a very good quality piece and would have been retailed by a good maker in the period such as Maple & Co.
